The Manu National Park that covers the high mountains, mesophilic mountain forest and the low jungle. The Cultural Zone of Manu has a cloud forest that is currently one of the areas of the world where wildlife still live in abundance in its natural habitat where there are 8,000 species of plants, more than 400 species of birds and 10 species of mammals have been identified in the cloud forest of Manu. This area also offers a walk in the Cocha Machuwasi in a raft of topa, a tree used by the old settlers to move in the Madre de Dios high river, a walk to the forest of CEIBA or giant trees and finally observe the activity of the Parrots and Macaws.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cloudy Forest – Albergue Paititi.
We start from Cuzco very early in the morning on our comfortable bus. We ascend to the upper area of Paucartambo. On the way we visited the funerary towers or Chullpas de Ninamarca. Then we descend through the mysterious cloud forest, full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We stop to give you the opportunity to witness the cock of the rocks (Rupicola peruviana) in the ritual of mating. There are also possibilities to observe trogons (Trogon sp.) And much more. If we are lucky we will find the only bear of South America, the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we will arrive at the port of Atalaya where we will embark in boat 30 minutes until the Paititi Lodge where we will spend the night in our typical hostel with baths and showers.
Day 2: Albergue Paititi
After a delicious breakfast, we continue our walk to the viewpoint and explore the trails around the lodge and other activities. Night in Hostel with bathrooms and showers available.
Day 3: Albergue Paititi – Collpa De Loros – Cocha Machuhuasi – Albergue Paititi
Very early we left by boat to the green parrot collpa where 3 to 4 species of parrots are observed, then we return by boat to Machuhuasi where we will have a walk inside the forest, arriving to the Machuhuasi lagoon where we have rafts or catamaran to navigate approximately 1 hour watching a great variety of birds, monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf alligators and insects. In the afternoon we return to our lodge for lunch. At night we will have night walks. Night in Hostel with bathrooms and showers available.
Day 4: Albergue Paititi – Atalaya – Cusco
After our delicious breakfast we unfortunately return by boat from the Paititi lodge to Atalaya, where the bus awaits us to return to Cusco, again passing through the mysterious cloud forest to the Imperial city of Cusco. Approximate arrival at 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
