On this amazing tour, full of interesting facts and mysteries, we’ll pick you up from downtown hotels in the afternoon (approx. 1:50 pm), to take a transport, that will take us to our destination of Sillustani! (40 min travel time).
After arriving at the complex of Sillustani, the guide will take you for a walk of about 30 minutes (walking soft) for different Chullpas of Sillustani or funerary towers from Inca and Pre-Inca cultures that rise up to 12 meters height!
This tour to the Chullpas of Sillustani will undoubtedly increase your explorer spirit!
Obviously, you will have the opportunity to take spectacular photos with the largest tomb you have ever seen! but not with the corpses… because these were taken to the museums, happily.
We can also see the beauty of the lake Umayo around the location of the chullpas. If the group want, you can visit a farmhouse on the road (where we see the life of the Andean people), and then return to the city after Puno.

To start this tour, our customers are be picked up from their hotels by a representative of JAT PERU, and then taken about 34 Kms away to the north – west of the city of Puno (30 minutes by road) at the height of 3,840 meters to the famous towers of Sillustani. Upon arrival, we visit one of the largest cemeteries in the world, surrounded by a landscape of stunning giant “chullpas ” ( type of stone towers), built by Collas and Incas, to bury their dead. The archaeological site of Sillustani is a cemetery built in the twelfth century by the Qolla civilization that occupied this area before the Inca era. The most impressive towers were built for important chiefs and priests.
These ancient civilizations considered cemeteries as resting and rebirth places so they chose beautiful places to build them and these were considered sacred places. Our professional guide provides extensive information about it.
